The RT382 dump truck started as a custom design and is now part of our standard range.
Marti Tunnelbau AG, a Swiss tunnelling contractor, had favourable experiences with our RT tractors at major civil engineering projects. At these sites the tractors proved
to have a lower fuel consumption, lower maintenance costs and a much longer service life than road transport tractors.
We developed the RT382, a compact dumper for use in tunnels and on construction sites at Marti’s request. The vehicle is only 2.55 metres wide which allows for two-way traffic in tunnels under construction, and it can also turn around in most tunnels.
It is normally fitted with a 15 cubic metre tipper body. Even when fully loaded with 40 tonnes of rock the unit can still climb inclines up to 12%. On long descents the Jacobs engine brake prevents overheating of the retarder and conventional brakes.
This tractor serves double duty as the dumper body can be replaced by a fifth wheel for towing trailers. Finally, the unit has a significantly lower environmental impact than road haulage tractors.
In short, the RT382 dumper brings Terberg reliability, versatility and fuel efficiency to large construction and civil engineering sites such as tunnelling projects.
